And really, a pirate-themed RPG shouldn't work, but it's done beautifully.ДЄnd as for the cons for POE2, even with multi-classing, builds can feel somewhat restrictive. There's even a long side quest to fully explore those islands, and once you've done so, you can name them. Sailing around, getting into ship battles, and stumbling across undiscovered, wild islands and learning their history is amazing. Everything around you actually feels like it has existed long before you showed up, and you're not consistently the most important thing in the entire game like most hero-centric games are.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire really excels with it's feeling of adventure and by establishing that the world has an identity and a past. But thankfully, the game gives you enough freedom to essentially skip the entirety of the act if you know where to look. The story has some great twists and turns, your companions have their own agendas and don't hail you as the great mythical hero figure, and the game just has a very dense feeling to it where even the most insignificant occurrence or item or location is of some importance somehow.ДЄs far as the cons for DOS2, as someone who's invested over 400 hours into it, the only thing that really nags at me is how weak the third act is compared to the others acts in the game. There's a lot of synergy and unique mechanics and interesting way in which to interact with the world. You can even use Telekinesis to kill people by swinging heavy objects through them, acting like a bit of a wrecking ball. Oil can be ignited, walking on ice can make you slip, lightning will shock people, etc. Items have weight to them in a literal world sense. Divinity: Original Sin 2 gets more praise than POE2 because it introduces a tangibility to the world that's missing from practically every game.
